From moulding characters to crafting intricate sets using clay, our campers unleash their imagination to bring their stories to life, frame by frame. Campers will learn the fundamentals of stop motion animation, mastering techniques that transform simple clay into captivating characters with vibrant personalities. With hands-on practice and collaborative projects, campers not only develop artistic skills but also cultivate teamwork and problem-solving abilities. This camp is for students aged 8-11 years.
Cost:
The camp fee is $240 (including taxes).

What will you learn?
Into the ClayMay world: Enter the world of clay and learn how to create worlds like you have seen in Wallace and Gromit, Pingu and Shaun the Sheep. Students learn the basic principles of the Stopmotion Studio software and how to properly stage a stopmotion set and movie before modeling their own characters.

Tell Me a Story: To make a movie, you need a story. Students will delve into effective storytelling and how to use storyboards to plan out their movies. They will conceptualize their main characters and start modelling them.
Set building fundamentals will also be covered as students begin to craft the worlds their characters live in - taking ordinary craft supplies and building incredible environments.

Film, Film, Film: Now it is time to execute. Using their storyboard, students will stage and film their movies using all the techniques they have learned throughout the week.

Movie Magic and Film Fest: And…. that’s a wrap! With a little video editing magic, students will stitch clips and add a soundtrack to further elevate their stories.
Students will be sent home with a link to their movies to share with friends and families.

Students should bring their own iPads or Android tablets (and don’t forget your chargers). If you want to borrow one from us, we have a limited number of devices available. Please email us to request one.
Students should try to install the free “Stop Motion Studio” app/software on their devices prior to the camp.
All other required materials will be provided.
Refund policy: Email us at least 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the start of the camp for a full refund.
VISST reserves the right to cancel camps and refund camp fees due to low enrolment. In this event, we will provide as much advance notice as possible.
Make it a Full-Day camp
If you want to make this a full day camp experience, you can register for this camp AND our A Sustainable World camp from 9:00am-12:00noon (July 2-5) concurrently below and save $90. Students who take both camps can stay at VISST from 12:00-1:00pm for lunch. Please bring your own lunch (no nuts or seafood).
