This page lists other organizations offering camps, workshops or other extracurriculars in STEM/STEAM. While we have made contact with each of these organizations, we have not vetted their offerings in all cases.
Math
Spirit of Math offers evening and weekend extracurricular math programs for K-12. They are a national organization with multiple locations in Greater Vancouver.
Math Potentials offers extracurricular math programs for grades 5-12 based on the Singapore Math program. They offer multiple locations in Greater Vancouver.
LIVE offers online math classes for US$22/hr. LIVE was created by mathematician Po-Shen Loh, who visited VISST in 2024. Classes are taught by stellar high school students.
Vancouver Olympiad School offers training for high-level math contests from teacher John Yuan.
STEAM
Zen Maker Lab offers after school, weekend & summer programs on STEM/STEAM/robotics in North Vancouver. They also partner with schools to deliver parts of the ADST (Applied Design, Skills & Technologies) curriculum.
Steamoji offers after school, weekend & summer programs on various STEAM topics. Students progress through hands-on missions with the guidance of mentors, earning badges along the way. There are several locations in Vancouver.
Ethọ́s Lab is a non-profit STEAM lab for grade 5-12 students with an emphasis on promotive diverse voices in STEM/STEAM. They are located just down the street from VISST at 3rd and Main.
GearBots offer STEM/STEAM maker space academies for ages 9-17 in Abbotsford and Chilliwack. Students are encouraged to stay in the program over several years as the levels build on each other over time.
Coding
Under the GUI offers after school, weekend & summer programs in coding and robotics. They offer a wide variety of courses including Python programming, web development, and game development. They offer several locations in Greater Vancouver.
Coding Pals is a non-profit organization offering free online coding classes. It was started by a group of high school students at St. George’s School and the courses are taught by high school students.
Science
Science World’s Future Science Leaders program is an after school science enrichment program for upper high school students. The program includes science projects and the opportunity to meet with mentors and like-minded peers. Admission to the program is competitive.
Innovation & Entrepreneurship
TKS is a weekend program promoting innovation in students aged 13-17. The program offers students a way to plug into the startup ecosystem and big-picture thinking.
Shad is a month-long summer program for Grade 10 and 11 students with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and STEAM. Shad takes place at various university campuses across the country and has been running since 1981.
